The Full Story

Meet Kris

Kris Alfheim is a lifelong resident of Wisconsin. Born and raised on a beef farm, Kris has spent her career as a retirement planner, working to help middle-class families navigate the complexities of retirement. Active both in NAIFA  (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors-Wisconsin) and the Alzheimer’s Association for many years, working to build consensus in the statehouse with bipartisan coalitions capable of actually passing legislation to help the ordinary Wisconsinites.

During 2020 Kris saw how important local government was, and chose to run for her local alderwoman seat, winning and serving on the Appleton City Council. While in office, she worked to make sure local government was responsible to the needs of its citizens. She passed city ordinances to ensure the city was planning for climate change, worked to fund and build a new library, and used city tax dollars effectively for the betterment of all residents.

In 2022, frustrated with the dysfunction and far-right ideology in the state legislature, she ran for state senate. Despite being outspent nearly three to one, she came within 6500 votes of winning. Now, with new, fair maps, Democrats have a real shot at taking back the 18th Senate District. Kris could become the first Democrat to flip the seat in almost 40 years, putting Democrats on the pathway to a Senate majority.

Kris is a champion of women, working families, equality for all, the environment, small businesses and children.  She believes in rebalancing the focus of government towards people and families, while ensuring a strong economy to ensure the Fox Valley continues to be a great place to live, work and raise a family
